How do I create a new project from a template?

Ressio does not have a single "project template" button. Instead, you create a new project first and then apply your saved templates to it.

  1. Go to All Projects and select + New Project button in the top right hand corner.
  2. Enter your project details and select Submit.
  3. After selection Submit, you will be brought to the Estimate tab. Select "Copy from template" button.
  4. Choose the project template from the drop down menu and toggle on "Include files" and/or "Use default company markups" and hit Next. *You will be "Inserting cost items from another project"
  5. Uncheck any cost codes or cost items you don't want to bring into your project and hit "Copy Selected".
  6. Go to the Schedule tab and use the Use Template dropdown to insert the schedule from another project. Hit "Insert" to insert the schedule.
  7. If needed, go back to the Estimate tab and select Create Proposal to apply a proposal template.

Why is the order of my line items different after I copy a template?

When you copy an estimate template into a project, line items should keep the template’s order. If it looks different, check your current sort settings (column sorting can make the same data appear in a different order).

If the order still looks scrambled after resetting sort, contact support@ressiosoftware.com with a screenshot.

Why is markup from my template showing up on a project I do not want it on?

Markup set at the category or item level in a template carries over when the template is applied.

Exception: if you choose "Use default company markups" during copy, copied item markups are removed and company defaults are applied.

How do I update pricing in an estimate template?

1. Go to All ProjectsTemplates.
2. Open the template project, then open its Estimate.
3. Update Unit cost and Qty as needed.

Notes:

  • Builder cost subtotal is calculated automatically (not directly editable).

  • If a line is linked to the cost catalog, unlink it before editing pricing.

  • Updating the template does not retroactively update existing project estimates.

How do I update pricing in an estimate template?

  1. Under Company Settings, go to All Projects and then to the Templates tab.
  2. Open the template project, then open its Estimate
  3. Edit pricing directly in the grid ( unit cost, Qty, or Builder cost subtotal ).
❗A couple caveats:
• If a line is linked to the cost catalog, unlink it first before editing pricing.
• Updating the template does not retroactively update existing estimates — it affects the template (and anything copied from it afterward).

How do I rename a template?

Templates are saved as projects. Open the template project and rename it like any other project. The new name appears anywhere templates are listed.

How do I delete a template?

For project templates, permanent delete is not supported — use archive.

How to archive a project template:

  1. Go to All ProjectsTemplates

  2. Open the template menu (⋯) and choose Archive Project

  3. Confirm

You can restore later from All ProjectsArchivedRestore Project.

For document templates, deletion is supported.

Can I apply more than one schedule template to a project?

Applying a schedule template appends tasks to the project schedule. It does not automatically clear existing tasks, so applying multiple templates can create overlap/duplicates.

What is the difference between Create Proposal and Edit Proposal?

Create Proposal starts a new proposal flow.
Edit Proposal appears when a draft proposal already exists and opens that draft for changes.

Can I update the daily log template?

Yes. You can update the daily log template to add custom fields, checklists, or safety items.

  1. Go to Company Settings and select Templates.
  2. Select Daily logs template.
  3. Add/update fields, checklists, or safety items.
  4. Select Save.

❗Note that Ressio supports one daily log template per company. All daily log entries across your projects will follow this template.

Can I edit a template after I have already used it on a project?

Yes. You can edit templates anytime. Changes affect future uses only and do not retroactively change existing project data.

Can I use only part of an estimate template instead of the whole thing?

Yes. When applying a template, expand categories and select only the sections/items you want.

Can I require multiple signatures on a proposal template?

Yes. Proposal templates can be configured to require multiple signatures.

How many templates can I have?

You can create as many project, schedule, document, and proposal templates as needed.
The daily log template is the exception: one per company.
