Troubleshooting Takeoffs

Use these checks if you cannot access Takeoffs, open a plan, get the expected measurement, or update your estimate. If work is missing or the wrong estimate value changes, contact Ressio Support before continuing to apply quantities.

 I do not see Takeoffs

Contact Ressio Support to confirm access for your company.

My plan will not upload or open
  1. Confirm that the file is a PDF.
  2. Check whether the PDF opens in a PDF viewer.
  3. If it still does not open in Takeoffs, capture the error message and contact Support with the affected file.

CAD, BIMX, and other non-PDF files need to be exported or converted to PDF first. A blurry or unreadable plan is not a reliable source for estimating quantities.

My measurement looks wrong
  1. Confirm that you are measuring the intended sheet and view.
  2. Verify scale against a known labeled dimension.
  3. Check whether a detail uses a different scale from the main drawing.
  4. Review the traced shape or path for missed boundaries or duplicate measurements.
  5. Check units and measurement type.
  6. For roof measurements, check pitch and whether the selected mode is flat, pitched, rake, or hip.

If scale is verified but the result is still mathematically wrong, contact Support with the expected dimension and measured result.

My estimate did not update
  1. Open the Parameters tab in Takeoffs.
  2. Confirm the quantity is mapped to the intended estimate parameter.
  3. Confirm the units match.
  4. Select Apply.
  5. Open the estimate and check that parameter’s value.

Autosave keeps your measurements; it is not the same as applying quantities to the estimate.

The wrong estimate parameter changed

Stop applying additional quantities. Contact Support with the quantity, intended parameter, actual parameter, and screenshots of the mapping and result.

I cannot manually edit a mapped value

Mapped estimate values are intended to remain editable. Contact Support if a mapped value is locked or cannot be changed.

Measurements disappeared after reopening

Check the correct sheet and visibility settings first. If saved work is still missing, contact Support with the project, sheet, approximate time of the issue, and what disappeared.

I do not see AI room fill or symbol detection

These capabilities may not be enabled for your company during the Takeoff beta. You can continue with manual measurements. Ask Support to confirm availability rather than assuming the missing option is an error.

I need to export or print a takeoff

To share a visual snapshot of your takeoff:

  1. Open the plan and turn on the measurements you want to show.
  2. Adjust the view so the measurements are readable.
  3. Take a screenshot and share it with your team or vendor using an approved channel.

A screenshot is a visual reference, not an exportable takeoff file. Export and print are not included in the Takeoffs beta launch.

What to include when contacting Support

  • Company and project name.
  • Affected plan file and sheet (when shareable)
  • What you expected, and what happened instead.
  • Screenshots or the exact error message.
  • For measurement problems: the labeled dimension, verified scale, and measured result.
  • For estimate problems: the intended parameter, mapping, and actual value.
  • Approximate time the issue occurred.

Use a secure, approved support route when sharing plans or sensitive project information.
