[Takeoffs](https://help.ressiosoftware.com/feature-guides?hsLang=en#takeoffs) # Using Takeoff quantities in the Estimate ## Connect a measured takeoff quantity to an estimate parameter so you do not have to re-enter the number. Review the mapped result before using it in a bid or order. - Use measured flooring area, baseboard length, or item counts in an estimate. - Check that a plan quantity updates the intended estimate input. - Adjust estimate values for waste, rounding, or builder judgment. #### Understanding quantities and parameters A **takeoff quantity** is a measurement from the plan, such as 200 square feet of flooring. An **estimate parameter** is the estimate input that uses that measurement. Your estimate can use it in calculations for materials, labor, or cost. Mapping connects the two. It does not turn a raw plan measurement into a complete material list. --- #### Before you begin - Confirm the measurement and scale are correct. - Have the intended parameter available in the project estimate. - Match the units: square feet to square feet, linear feet to linear feet, or count to count. --- #### Map a quantity and apply it 1. Select the takeoff for your project. 2. Review the measured quantity you want to use. 3. Select the **Parameters** tab. 4. Map the quantity to the intended estimate parameter with matching units. 5. Select **Apply**. 6. Open the estimate. 7. Find the parameter you mapped. 8. Confirm its value matches the quantity you intended to apply. 9. Review the estimate calculations that use that parameter. --- #### Adjust the estimate when needed Mapped estimate values remain editable. You can make manual corrections or use estimate calculations for waste, rounding, and material conversion. For example, a takeoff may measure 200 square feet of flooring. If you choose to allow 10% waste, the order quantity would be 220 square feet. Keep the measured plan quantity distinct from the ordering allowance so you can explain the difference later. ‼️Review any manual adjustments when applying quantities again. Do not assume a manual change is permanently protected from a later Apply action. --- #### What happens next The estimate uses the applied parameter value. Takeoffs autosaves measurements, but saving a measurement and applying its quantity to the estimate are different actions. Verify the estimate after applying quantities instead of assuming every measurement edit has already updated it. --- #### Troubleshooting ##### The estimate did not update Check the mapping, confirm the units match, and select **Apply**. Review the exact parameter you mapped rather than a similarly named input. ##### The wrong parameter changed Stop applying additional quantities. Capture the mapping, expected parameter, and actual result, then contact Support. ##### I cannot edit a mapped estimate value Mapped values are intended to remain editable. Contact Support if the value becomes locked or cannot be changed. ##### I need a material list Use the estimate to convert quantities into materials.
